Content Audit & System Logic

Reviewing Harappa's existing published output across formats — identifying structural inconsistencies, understanding the range of content types in production, and establishing the system logic the editorial framework needed to address. Determining what was shared across all formats versus what needed format-specific rules.

Grid & Typography

Building the core editorial infrastructure — the grid system, typographic hierarchy, and spacing logic that would govern how content sat on the page across print and digital contexts. Designing for dense long-form text as the primary use case, with clear navigation structures for chapter openers, pull quotes, captions, and callout elements.

Illustration Integration

Developing the rules for how Harappa's mixed-media illustrations were integrated into editorial layouts — scale, placement, bleed treatment, relationship to text columns. Ensuring the illustration language and the editorial system reinforced each other rather than competing, and that the integration logic could be applied consistently by production teams.

Format Adaptation & Production

Adapting the editorial system across formats — print book production, course materials, digital editorial content, and the Independence Day publication — each requiring specific production preparation. Producing the marketing video for the Independence Day book launch, extending the project's scope from print publishing into motion content.

What this work demonstrates

Long-form editorial design for publication

Designing for books and long-form publications is fundamentally different from campaign, deck, or interface work — it requires thinking about sustained reading experience across hundreds of pages, print production constraints, and the relationship between text density and visual breathing room. This project demonstrates that specific discipline at scale.

Cross-format system design

Building a single editorial system that held coherently across print books, digital course materials, and editorial publications — each with different aspect ratios, production requirements, and reading contexts — is a systems design challenge as much as a visual one. The ability to design a system flexible enough to adapt without losing its character is what makes it valuable at production scale.

Range — from editorial to motion

The Independence Day book project extended this engagement beyond print into a marketing video — demonstrating the ability to work across disciplines within a single project.
